Album Review: Haiku Hands Are Dancing In Self-Titled Debut
Till this day, Haiku Hands gave one of the best performances I have ever seen. Back in the day, when we had things called concerts, this trio would tear up stages as if the club scene was their destiny. Like their remix friends, Sofi Tukker, this Aussie group was made for clubbing and partying, which is why their debut comes at such a particular time. Out September 10, their self-titled record transports you the nightlife of Ibiza and the wild nights of house-partying in New York. The question is will you go?

From “Super Villain“ to “Sunride,“ the album feels meticulously crafted for a modern aerobics class. Now, you make think that is an insult, but it is only because you are bitter and lacking of rhythm. There is an innate fun and movement to every track that makes you want to sweat, but not in seduction or sex as much as to have the pleasure of feeling your body connect with a beat. In essence, dancing with yourself can be really fantastic: weird moves and all. Thus, Claire Nakazawa, Mie Nakazawa, and Beatrice Lewis interchange in spitting verses and leading vocals to become the equivalent of your emotional Soul-Cycle instructor.

MOVE IT, GIRL! GET HYPED! YOU WILL BE ALRIGHT! If I had to sum up Haiku Hands’ debut and it core messages, those would be it, which is why it feels like the most unusual, delightful record right now. It commands from you an energy that hasn’t been asked of us in awhile, and perhaps we have forgotten to summon. Yet, it feel necessary like a glimmer of hope. Their album, in some ways, is what we are working for: a time and place when we can party hard and escape from life’s mundaneness and not a pandemic. To Buy Haiku Hands’ On September 10 Click Here.
