Album Review: Imagine Dragons Analyze The Origins of Humanity
Imagine Dragons’ Origins makes you feel like you are strolling through the Garden of Eden. There you will find trees of rhythms that offer you fruits on all the good humanity, but then come their lyrical roots, of which hold sincere knowledge. While I believe we can produce sweet, rich lives, Origins questions why humanity is anchoring itself into its darkness.
Tracks like, “Bad Liar,” “Digital,” and “Bullet In A Gun” are throwing apples of truth amongst baseline and snares that feel as dark and rigid as bark. They are going for the Book of Revelations in sound, which means they are combing Hell, Earth, and Heaven into a music mix that is enlivening. From “Machine” to “Stuck,” Imagine Dragons balance reckoning with redemption. While most dream of Eden and, even the Apocalypse, as the places/ moments when humanity is fully entered within its truest self, Imagine Dragons’ Origins is about figuring what that is, especially in time of excess. Now, more than ever, we have people divided by major gaps of access.
Imagine Dragons – Natural (Official Music Video)
We are living in a moment when some will be the richest men ever and others will be the poorest. Some women will be the most educated ever and others will be the most uneducated. We have the resources to share, but not the will, which makes Dan Reynolds’ voice feel like a call to action. He already has a vocality that summons you to look at life like a Bohemian Rhapsody, and Origins has him giving greater purpose to his voice. While in other albums the goal was to entertain and enliven; this one was meant to awaken. It’s not enough that you have a good moment; Imagine Dragons want you to have a good life and world.
Imagine Dragons – Zero (From the Original Motion Picture “Ralph Breaks The Internet”)
Throughout history, there has been a debate on whether humanity is naturally evil or good. Moreover, arguments have been made as to whether either can be nurtured. Lyrically, to Imagine Dragons, the nature of humanity falls to the wayside when you see how it nurtures itself. If you cannot heal yourself, then the world suffers for it, but songs such as, “Love,” “Only,” and “Natural” have Reynolds rising his voice amongst drum kicks and stressed synths to say, “It’s time to do better!” For More Information On Imagine Dragons And To Buy Origins Click Here.
