Album Review: Jojo’s Good To Know Is Really Good To Know
Jojo has a voice that is absolute honey. Not only can it scale up through its range, but it ambers and glazes heartbreak to make it edible. Men SHOULD LISTEN to Jojo’s Good To Know so THEY can know how they screw us ladies and how we want them, despite that. For Jojo, you don’t quit men or the search for love, because you chose a few “bad apples.” Instead, you mark down all the things you want and need like a “how-to” for your heart; one that Jojo sings to make sure you know.
JoJo – Lonely Hearts [Official Music Video]
“Good To Know”, out May 1, makes official Jojo’s queendom in empowering women through their break-ups and their bouts of sheer, lustful desire. She has her Beyoncé tracks like, “Gold” and “Comeback (feat Tory Lanez)” where she is demanding her future Jay-Z to love her up, and her introspective songs such as, “Small Things” and ‘Lonely Hearts” where she is, literally, asking herself “how can I work on me when I’m woking on your body.” (I felt that!) Then, she has her “You SOB!” tracks like, “Pedialyte” and “So Bad,” which is why we love our Sweet Jojo; she delivers the music that goes RIGHT into your feelings and turns them into vibes you can rock with. Yet, the specialness of this record stem from her realizing you shouldn’t want the love of a man to replace the love you can’t give yourself.
JoJo – Man [Official Music Video]
Perhaps, the law of attraction truly is about meeting energies; self-love attracts a partner in love!. Thus, women lust and women cry. They want love, joy, and sex, unabashedly, but the problem is whether they can get it without shame or male plots. Jojo’s Good To Know is crossed between her singing to sexual desires and roaring at another man who thought her wants were access points for his games. Notice I used the word “roar.” There is an intimacy to this record that, for however hypnotizing its R&B and Hip Hop flares may be, it steamed and pressed by her self-realization, which is fueled by her emotional leaps through octaves.Overall, Good To Know feels like the most mature and confident version of Jojo we have had yet: both in vocals and virtues. Every note she hits and lyrical idea she has feels precise in delivery, which gives the album a personal ,atmospheric effect. To Buy Jojo’s Good To Know Click Here.
