Album Review: Lea Michele Will Take You Places
Lea Michele ’s Places is a beautiful album, as one would expect. Throughout her career, from Broadway to Glee, Michele has celebrated the beauty of music and life, even at its darkest. Thus, with big orchestrations and piano melodies, Places takes you “places” that always carry a light.
Lea Michele – Getaway Car (Audio)
For some reason, listening to Places pretty much confirms what Michele has said; she is a Barbra Streisand fan. Like the legend, clean, crisp, but delicately decorative notes dance in starry arrangements as in songs, “Sentimental Memories” and “Love Is Alive”. For being such a young, fresh voice of this generation, Lea Michele has a classic mentality; no matter how sad you are, never lose your beauty: both inside and out. Tracks like “Getaway Car” and “Tornado” hold tragic lyrics of loss and pain, but when Lea sings, hurt seems to have a hope with it. As if no amount of hurt can take away that one day you will smile again and even allow yourself to dream, as well. It is that kind of notion that makes Places one to play when you want to feel like the rainbow that comes after a storm; after all the rain that poured, the grey clouds that gathered, and the loud thunders that clashed, you sparkled across the sky with color.
