Album Review: Jordan Rakei Observes His Origin
Jordan Rakei has been rising as a soulful crooner capturing Millennials desire to feel and chill through sound. If there is one thing that the current music sphere adores, it is a synths that falls upon the dance-floor like a mattress, which means listeners solely have to lie down and rest in a song. Rakei gets this, and provides his best album yet with Origin.
From his sound to his voice, Rakei’s Origin is such an elevation of his talent. It is as if he has better understands what works within him works in others, as well. From “Mad World” to “Mantra” his voice is 10x’s more soulful, which I did not know was possible. He has gotten smarter in how he annotates and emotes lyrics that sings to fawning over love and inner peace. Similar to new releases like X Ambassadors’ Orion, Rakei is singing to the root of serenity and romance in his life.
Jordan Rakei – ‘Rolling into One’ Behaviors are patterned, choices are linked, and mind frames are consistently rebuilt. For Rakei, Origin feels like a breaking of these truths to create a new one. Eventually, in life, you go through so many heartbreaks and emotional walls that you start to slow down and see why the same pains keep on returning. In essence, poor relationship choice can feel like you are stabbing yourself with the same knife, and Rakei is over it. Songs such as, “Mind’s Eye,” “Signs,” and “Say Something” have Rakei imploring his heart, his bonds, and his goals to see how the originated his soul; a mood that is very Millennial.
Something about hitting your mid-twenties/ early thirties makes your blood pressure go up because you realize absolutely none of your dreams came true or, if they did, it was not a smooth ride. Hence, there is a maturity to Origin that can be founded in contemplation. Moreover, sonically, it feels paced and planted in keys meant to vibrate like singing bowls altering your chakras. Thus, Jordan Rakei’s Origin is a total vibe. Click Here To Buy Origin On June 14.
