Album Review: Robyn Show Dancing Is Love In “Honey”

From it’s very beginning, Robyn’s Honey makes you feel like you have walked into a club in Europe or Scandinavia . You are in the dancing underground of Berlin or Norway, and all the youth are gathered sipping pink champagne and biting honeyed strawberries. Robyn has wrapped decadence and debauchery with an innocence that challenges how you see “getting down” as getting wild. For Robyn, letting loose truly means letting out the “honey” from your heart.

What I have always loved about Robyn is her ability to give heart to the dance scene. At times, people thinks the “dance world” or “clubbers” are just wildlings trying to escape “reality.” This is not, necessarily, untrue, but there is a richness to those of us that see music as a key to our body and soul’s lock. Tracks like, “Missing U,” “Baby Forgive Me,” and “Ever Again” have Robyn showing the romance of dance; how a rhythm is not simply a physical choice but an expression of your soul’s decision to connect with someone, especially if it has been so rejected.
Robyn – Honey (Lyric Video)

Throughout Honey, Robyn balances beauty with bounce. From “Between The Lines” to “Human Being,” you can envision your spirit dancing in a room of mirrors; choreographing every desire, deed, and drawback you had when wanting to make someone love you in return. The transition of like or lust into love is not, necessarily, smooth, but Robyn sure knows how to make it feels so. Her voice feels like pin-drops sewing with neon yarn every cozy sweater your heart needs to warm again. It is hard not feel exuberant and even a little flirtatious as you hear Honey because, in a way, it celebrates the hidden part of you: the bold lover.
Robyn – Missing U (Lyric Video)

It seems crazy to me, especially in this world, how we hide our love. From our desire to our capacity for it, sometimes, we are more willing to show our disdain or disagreements over our ability to be loving. For Robyn, Honey is like an Electro Vogue; fashioning and sashaying away every gripe and grudge you clutch that makes you hold back your heart. Hence, Robyn is the Queen of Dance Pop because she sees this world is all about love. For More Information On Robyn And To Buy Honey On October 26 Click Here.
