Concert Review/ Artist Close-Up: Paris Bryant Remember That Name
It was a brief set, but an impactful one. Declaring it “Demon Time,” Paris Bryant gave his heart and his verse to a handful of people at Knitting Factory because no one “makes it big” without starting small. Frankly, I have seen artists act like they needed novacaine just to get through their set. Let’s be honest, when most artists dream of performing, they dream of MSG. Yet, we all start at Knitting Factory, and Paris Bryant left an impression.
The crowd smiled, bopped, and swayed as he swagged through his rhymes like he was trying to finesse the power from them. He moved his body as if he could see the gold they were hiding, and was going to catch each and every bar. That level of ambition and determination is welcomed because not everyone sees that every crowd is a potential fan that could lead to fanbase that could lead to a community. How you win someone over can determine whether you win the world, and Paris Bryant is aiming for the galaxy.
Live, Paris Bryant is a gracious, force to be reckoned with. He did not have the longest set, but it was memorable because of his talent and graciousness; acknowledging that he was not only the one rocking that stage. Those little details matter when you want to be big. With his hits like, “Mad Mad” and recent new music like, “Tragedy,” Paris was able to go from freestyle to pure style like nothing. It was like watching a shooting star, and wondering where it will go next. Paris Bryant will reach the sky so remember that name!
