Concert Review: B. Miles Rocks Out At Bowery Ballroom
Categorically, B.Miles has been considered dream pop with flares of R&B. Her electro vibe has dominated her image as a chill artist with feel good, smooth vibes. Yet, at her Bowery Ballroom show, she proved that her record is for vibin out, but her concert is for rocking out.
Admittedly, I went in thinking I was going to see B.Miles with a synthesizer playing her beats and crooning her self-titled EP with DIY, intimacy. I expected a young, solo artist treating the stage like her private room, but, instead, got a Joan Jett-esque kween in a pink suit. Yes, an all pink suit with white, latex boots! If that does not scream, “LOOK AT ME I HAVE PIZZAZ!”, I do not know what does. Thus, as she moved around in her power suit, I was enthralled, but then she sang, and I was revived.
B.Miles has a WAY wider range than her album let on. Her self-titled EP presents herself as a cool songstress that serves adrenaline rhythmic drips. Yet, she GUSHES energy; even calling herself an energizer bunny. As she belts and wails notes like her vocal chords were, actually, catapults, her music goes from an electric dream into a rock n’ roll Heaven. Having a live band certainly drives that this artist leaps from recorded digi-beats and analogs to one that kicks verses over a guitar melody as if it were a punching bag.
B.Miles’ balance between seeming calm and approachable while being fierce and forward is the EPITOME of being a star. She twirls and tweeks her fingers and shoulders as if love was a drug, and frankly her music/ performance is! Who else can convert a Jackson 5 hit into a mournful ballad on wanting your love back. Thus, you will get addicted to B.Miles and her capacity to transform and give you two artists in one: the dream pop gal and the rocking kween. For More Information On B.Miles Click Here.
