Artist Close-Up: Blimes & Gab Are My Kid N’ Play
While some might see my Kid N’ Play comparison as a stretch, at Blimes and Gab’s Baby’s All Right show, they proved they are the modernized version of this party duo. On a tour that is LITERALLY CALLED Auntie Up, Blimes And Gab seem straight out of a House Party film; two women that are not just giving a show but are one.
You have to get lit and be light in life, and that is what Blimes & Gab taught me. Part of being “enlightened” is knowing how to have fun, shut a hater up, and a pick a lover that is good enough for you. If that is not the most “Auntie” advice you have ever heard then MAYBE you need to back away from this post (lol!). These women crush the stage like they found out it owed them money; giving off a dynamic that makes you want to hang out with them and have unlimited mimosas but also know that they will smash the champagne bottle on you if you cross them. In essence, they make Cardi B and Nicki Minaj feel proud; balancing glam, grit, and goodness in one powerful duo.
Blimes and Gab – Un Deux Trois
From verse to flow, Blimes & Gab are nothing short of smooth operator; spitting wisdom and perfect instagram captions like Sade joined the N.W.A. Their ability to feel like the calmest people to spark a riot is what makes them engulfing performers but also a welcome to the Hip Hop scene. There IS NO ONE LIKE THEM! Moreover, I can recall any duo or personalities similar to them beyond a Kid N’ Play “funness” with a Queen Latifah level of wokeness. As a female that loves Hip Hop, I need these pair of Aunties to further women as bad bitches with big hearts, lit blunts, and a few Balmain bags in between.
