Concert Review: Connor Mclaren Is A Paul Rudd Vibe
Life is a FREAKING JOURNEY! It is so hard to believe in yourself, and, as an artist, it can feel delusional, which is why so many say, ¨BE DELUSIONAL.¨ Sometimes, I wonder if imposter syndrome is just an unwillingness to believe you are the center of the world out of a hyper-awareness that, technically, you are not nor should you be. Yet, there are others, like Connor Mclaren that just do not give a s**t.
There was a Paul Rudd quality to Connor as Footlight. He radiates like someone that just does not care, but not in a sense of coldness or carelessness. Instead, his music is all about joviality, and not being so heavy, even in life’s heavier moments. He kind of feels like the Anti-Overthinker, which technically is what imposter syndrome is: treating any room like its 2 dragons away from a Game of Thrones sequence. Yet, that does not mean he does NOT feel the isolation.
Playing some of his newest work from, Innocence, and with his band/family behind him, Connor Mclaren´s music just really feels positive, like him. There is something casual, silly, and extremely talented to how he banters and presents his music as if he really just wants to sing. That is what I liked about him: he has guitar-led melodies filled with his humility, which I genuinely think is rare. His blonde curly hairy just whisking around and lulls and la about getting back up again. That kind of sweet resilience is what makes him feel so refreshing in a world of imposters or people with its syndrome.
Overall, Connor Mclaren has all the makings of being someone to cheer for. You just really want him to go far, and lord knows I did heading all the way to Queens. If you must know New Yorkers only stay in their borough or Manhattan. This MEANT something, and for Connor, as his first time in NYC, it must have, as well.
