Concert Review: Honeyblood Is In Plain Sight At Baby’s
Honeyblood proved something that is true; heartbreak does not kill you, it makes you stronger. Yet, for women, it can feel like it kills. As ladies, we take a lot of rejections, but when a man leaves/sides us, society can stamp a Scarlet Letter on our jean jackets. “Why did he do that to her?” or “Will she ever be loved again?” are asked by strangers to the relationship as much as the woman that partook in it. At Baby’s All Right, Honeyblood was not having and attracted an audience that was not either.
Feeling weak sucks, but having everyone notice and bring it up is suckier. As humans, we love the notion that we can be veiled and unpredictable, especially when it comes to covering our sadness. Yet, from “Anywhere But Here” to “Ready For The Magic,” Honeyblood’s voice embodied every moment you wanted to yell at people “Let ME MOVE ON!” Yes, people can break down, but they can rebuild, and her future songs, from her upcoming album In Plain Sight, testify that the real struggle to heal can spark from our obsession at hiding our wounds.
Honeyblood – The Third DegreeIn personality and vocality, Honeyblood’s voice hails like sugar falling from the sky; it matches an apocalyptic rage with a candy filling. She even stands and affirms her chords as if they could crack your mind’s windshield. Naturally, that dynamic enthralls people because it feels emotionally clashing, while symbolizing how we all can put on a “face” to mask a feeling. This was, particularly, true when Honeyblood bashed through tracks from her last album: Babes Never Die. “Hey Stellar,” “Sea of Hearts,” and “Super Rat” crunched and cranked as if resilience and a rock melody could be sold in cereal boxes.
Honeyblood – She’s A NightmareHoneyblood has a distinct way of making feeling “off” feel sweet and commonly attractive; hence, her fans’ loyalty. Nowadays, people want more artists that make music for the frustrated as much as they do the loved. Honeyblood’s garage punk feels both accessible and epic; turning her show into a vent machine for fans to pass through. For More Information on Honeyblood Click Here.
