Concert Review: Kaina Brings Healing Raices To Baby’s All Right

Represent Alert! Represent Alert! Represent  Alert! Kaina’s music takes the beauty and healing qualities of Latinx culture and turns it into radio hits. Similar to Jhene Aiko, there is a “curandera” feel to Kaina’s music; as if she fuses a spiritual/ medicinal element to her sound. Yes, a song can be healing, in and of itself, but, at Baby’s All Right, Kaina’s specific aim to bring elevation to viewers showed that adding purpose to your music does add power to it.

It is an ignored “obvious;”purpose adds power to your goals and amplifies manifested actions. For a perfect example, how many times were you angrier or more in love with someone because their actions towards you were intentional? Hence, Kaina was ethereally powerful; singing songs such as, “Green” and “Happy,” like a healer swaying and swooning in place. She felt at peace on stage; effortlessly drawing in people’s gazes as if we could see her voice like a vision. I often use imagery, particularly nature, to describe people’s voices and how they use them. Kaina, certainly plants her lyrics like seeds, of which her voice is the water they need to grow in your mind’s soil.

For her, every verse has an emotion or philosophy that she must emanate through her presence. Yet, it is her sweetness and smiling nature that reminds the crowd that depth and healing are happier choices. From “Could Be A Curse” to “Ghost,” Kaina proves that there is a symbiotic relationship to pain; the more you let go of your heartbreak, the more love fill your mind to replace it. It is as if wisdom is your mind’s response to your heart’s break. Her ability to add advice and welcome to both her songs and crowd interactions made her feel like The People’s Queen. Yet, that vibe totally represents Latinas.

We are welcoming queens; adding firmness with friendliness. Maybe, that is why Kaina is defined as a healer? She strikes the balance of strength as an invite and an invigorator; molding and holding you at once. This explains why her music fuses pop, R&B, electro, and Latin stylings to create a sound that genuinely feels good and asks an audience to let the rhythms move their bodies as steadily as their souls.
