Concert Review: Lucky Daye Is An Emotional Experience At Bowery
Lucky Daye is ABSOLUTELY a performer. Time has only made him embrace further that he was predestined to be on the stage. You see it in how he loves the moment, the crowd, and how they respond to him having his moment. At Bowery Ballroom, it was hard not to feel like Lucky Daye is the center of the universe and we are all revolving around him.
When I tell you Lucky Daye fans are DEVOTED, it is because I think they all have a candle to him that they pray to right next to their Virgen De Guadalupe. It was THAT level of love and reverence. He, literally, left the stage for five minutes for an “outfit change” that was really him taking off his jacket, but to the audience those five minutes were as long as a flight to Argentina. Thus, when he returned, the applauses were uproarious and we all admired that he took off his coat. You may laugh, but that is star-power; making a flick of a finger, a toss of the head, or the removal of a coat feel like an emotional, cosmic event that only happens every 80 years.
Lucky Daye – Love You Too Much (Official Video)
Lucky Daye is a charismatic entertainer and you know he knows it. His voice butters over women’s breaded dreams; with the crowd feeling divided between couples and women that genuinely felt Lucky Daye was their husband. With just a debut out, each song was fully accompanied by the crowd and felt like a Top 40 hit. When it comes to R&B, Lucky Daye feels like its past and future; summoning the sensuality and succulence of wanting another person’s body, which is classic 90’s. Yet, holding down verses of self-doubt and questioning as to whether a physical connection is truly a love one, which is so “now” when it comes to music.

Doubt is laced in so many artists’ lyrics, but Daye taps into a true insecurity of romance. Sometimes, we really are riding on intuition that every kiss really means “I love you.” Thus, when hugged the head of a woman in the front, who was then congratulated and hi-fived by a group of women that might have been the First Wives Club, everyone knew he was loved and loving.
