Concert Review: Maria Isabel Joins The Rise of Latino R&B

There is a Latino Rise in the R&B world that includes phenomenal artists like, Sabrina Claudio, Kali Uchis, and Girl Ultra to add bilingual sensuality. I am more than happy to include Maria Isabel. When I hear her EP’s “’i hope you’re very unhappy without me” and “Stuck In The Sky,”              I knew I was listening to “the next big star” amidst that latter lineup. Thus, I was unsurprised that she had TWO sold out shows in Baby’s All Right.

There are a few commonalities with the latter artists that Maria shares; beyond being fierce Latinas that seduce in Spanish and English. The first is their sweetness. I have reviewed each of these artists, live, and can vouch that they approach their audience with such a quiet dulzura that the crowd, literally, is in aww and awe. That “Who Me? I’m Awesome! What?” Type of chemistry always works in gaining people on your side because you become the humblest star: the brightest entity to act like she’s not the one shining the night-sky. People sang Maria’s lyrics like she was the soundtrack to every time they wanted to fall in love with their school crush, felt heartbroken when he left with their friend, and determined to party up with his best friend in revenge ….. HA!

Perhaps, it is a weird blend of looking like a delicate knife; you gloss, shine, and even look breakable to the point that people forget you can cut. For most people, we feel breakable, and will go through many times, when we will get broken. Yet, Maria Isabel’s voice is a gentle reminder that you can cut. She sings to gathering the shattered pieces of your heart and using it to defend your spirt. Dance to her succulent beats, sing full-voice to the losers and kings you conquered, and make sure you remember that Maria Isabel has your back, Queen! For More Information Maria Isabel Click Here.
