Concert Review: Parcels Debut In Glory At Bowery Ballroom

Playing their first sold-out show ever in Bowery Ballroom, the Aussie group could not stop yelling “Bowery Ballroom!” to mass cheers. While I expected a good show, the Parcels provided one of the best ones to have a dancing, good time. These guys infuse disco and psychedelia to give a Bee-Gees/ Tame Impala concoction that will change your life.

I knew that Parcels were giving people the moments of their lives when I saw crowd members doing salsa with their friends and playing air-guitar to their melodies. The more you physically invest in a song signifies the more emotionally invested you are in the music. It is like seeing a couple be “lovey-dovey” versus one that walks two feet away from each other. You know love when you see it, and the audience loved Parcels, to which the band loved them right back. They, literally, could not stop saying how speechless they were, but I could not say enough about their talent.

Listening to how decorative Parcels’ soundscapes are I kept on wondering, “These guys have to be the happiest people on earth.” There is no way that you can cook up such rhythmic songs like, “Overnight”, “Myenemy”, “Older”, and “Bemyself”, and not be a happy person. If these songs came from or played in my mind all the time, I would ever cry again. This explains why the crowd smiled as if they had entered an Adult Disney World; where, instead of candy and stuffed animals, we got beers and hook-ups. Lovers and friends were uniting under a music experience that was beyond entertaining; it was eternally memorable. Moreover, their harmonies were so impressive they induced a spiritual experience.

I do not want to get dramatic, but, at one point, I texted Jesus to say, “Have you heard of Parcels?”, and he texted back “I MADE THEM!” BOOM! Even God is taking claim on their music because it embodies and layers with “feel good vibes”. You cannot replicate their joyous, party energy. How their voices meld to form a mindful chorus on things such as love, space odysseys, and whatever themes their multiple guitars, drums, and keyboards is melodized for your heart’s pleasure.
