Concert Review: Picture This Headline Bowery Ballroom And Swoon NYC!
After interviewing Picture This, of course, I was excited to see them perform at Bowery Ballroom! When you meet two really great, kind human beings, you feel encouraged by their growing success, and their concert performance is a sign if they deserve it. After all, even Picture This! acknowledges that a lot artists have the look but not the talent. Well, they have both, and they have heart to add, as well.
Picture This – 95
First, I have to say that for two guys whom are casual about life and whose long-term goals are simply to be happy in music, Ryan Hennessy and Jimmy Rainsford seem brightly aware on how to get more followers and keep the ones they have. From taking off his shirt to tussling his hair like he was Uncle Jesse from Full House, Hennessy was the human embodiment of what this drink has done to many women: swoon them. Hearing his rich vocals at sound-check felt like an advantage because, in concert, the ladies and gents could not stop singing along to their tracks, “For You”, “Smell Like Him”, “95”, and “Never Change”. Their self-titled debut felt like a hit magnet, and their gift of simple lyrics and simple chords for deeper thoughts was welcomed by all. If there is one thing a New Yorker knows, it is stress, but these Irish lads offered a good time that felt absorbed by cell-phones lit like lighters and constant cheers. Again, kudos must go to Hennessy who is so aware of his audience for being such a down-to-earth guy. He flirts and flaunts over them to their glee, and with how piercingly clear his voice is, the night felt like a celebration for young love. From how he brazened his guitar or danced like love was in his arms, the crowd could not stop feeling the romanticism of Picture This’ music.
Picture This – Never Change
Nearly, every song of Picture This! record is about the highs and lows of love. Yet, the key to their sound is humility. Every instrumental is arranged to feel grounded, of which the only bombardment you feel, in their concert, comes from their talent. For being a rather “newish” band they are precise and purposeful in their simple goal: to have a good time in music. For More Information On Picture This Click Here .
