Concert Review: Ra Ra Riot Have A Night For Themselves At Elsewhere

Being an artist is hard. From gaining the love of fans to earning the respect of the music industry, it is a constant grind. Yet, after so much success and years, you might be lucky enough to have a say in how you define your image and shows. In essence, you are working hard to make life easy, and, at Elsewhere, Ra Ra Riot’s work paid off.

Celebrating the 10th anniversary of their debut EP, Rhumb Line, the night felt as exhilarating as finishing  a marathon; after running so many miles and thinking you would not finish, you did! Now you can go to the diner and celebrate lol! Yet, that is how the night felt as Ra Ra Riot looked back, and showed how much their music has grown. From “Ghost Under Rock” to “Dying Is Fine,” their classic hits felt moody and intellectual: like a genius disappointed that everyone sees his smarts as madness. Such a vibe makes sense as, when they released the EP, Ra Ra Riot had NO IDEA it would be their launchpad to mass success.

Ra Ra Riot feels like the most blatant, hidden gem; shining with a subtle intimacy. Their indie feels wrapped the sold-out crowd of lovers, friends, and co-workers that looked at each other to, literally, say, “This was a good idea!” For most of us, a concert is more than an monetary investment; it is a spiritual breather. Thus, if the first half of their show was a look back, their latter half was a mixture of career hits, covers, and even new songs that showed time settles you into who you are. The group completely owned that this concert was for them. Even lead singer Wes Miles noted that Ra Ra Riot had been looking forward to a night where they could do whatever they wanted.

As they had no openers, for more than two hours, Ra Ra Riot took the stage, and relished in their own artistry while surrounded by people that were totally “here for it.” For those, who got the chance, it was like watching a pop orchestra grow from singing to their struggles to releasing psychedelic symphonies that promote embracing your day. Hence, the future of Ra Ra Riot’s sound is optimistic in literal messages and beat. For More Information On Ra Ra Riot Click Here.
