Concert Review: SiR Represents Inglewood Gentlemen At BK Steel
SiR had to have been one of the most light-hearted, loving shows I have ever seen. For one, he has a voice that could rub emotional, cocoa butter on even the driest of relationships. Between ladies eager to sing along with him, in hopes he would find and marry them, and gentlemen giving their best Inglewood Sir voices to sing to their baes, his Brooklyn Steel show was the smoothest version of fun.
As he took a blunt from a man in the crowd, who probably did not expect to lose his spliff to SiR, I knew I would love his show. He is this ripe blend of goofiness and grace. He could rib on the audience and laughingly tell them to shut their f**king phones, and then break into an emotional riff like in “Lucy’s Sky” or “Summer In November.” His music sets up moods for connections between lovebirds eager to be amorous. Moreover, he is so clearly a person that lives in his heart, and it was apparent when his older brother, D-Smoke, entered the stage.

I love brotherly love, and D-Smoke and SiR were both so happy to tell the crowd of their bunk-bed days; just two kids playing around, carrying dreams, and having a good, heartfelt family to back them. With how much they hugged each other and laughed, it was hard not to go look for their mom and be like, “You did that! You should be proud!” D-Smoke’s presence brought out the boyishness of SiR, and, in some ways, revealed that that is the core to his music. He crescendos his voice like a wide-eyed child realizing that not all love is corresponded but that doesn’t mean your heart can ever stop loving. Add on the guest appearance of SZA, and the audience had all the proof to see his songs are romantic and etched in good vibes for people that are entering their third or fourth relationship and trying not to feel so jaded about it.

Well, this review took a turn to relationship advice. Yet, as I saw these couples sing and look at each other with the eyes of people grown enough to know love is serious, I epitomized SiR as one of the freshest singers to emote love. He revives the playfulness of mature relationships and how exciting it is to just want to be with one person: no longer so eager for temporary friends or lovers with expirations dates. Eventually, everyone learns to be in love, you have to invest in a person, and even SiR was happy to announce that he was READY to get back to his girl who was waiting for him. A man that admits he is in a relationship to a warehouse full of people while smoking a doobie; now THAT is the Millennial version of romance. For More Information On SiR Click Here.
