Concert Review: Tasha Is Tender At Baby’s All Right

Watching Tasha play at Baby’s All Right, I kept on thinking about black beauty and how, often, it is either not admired or seen as delicate. Yes, women of color are strong, but in an era when more human beings are realizing vulnerability is strength, Tasha embodies it. Tender, delicate, and soft are words that some women feel plush over how resilient we are, but women of color don’t necessarily get those words attributed us, which is why Tasha felt so innovative.

We are beautiful and in pain. Observant in wonder and woe. We can fly and sink, all at once. Tasha’s music, in many ways, reveled this truth about humanity/ womanhood. She sings her songs like a “turning day;” that is what I call the days when, in the beginning, you feel are unbearably sad but then turn to become euphoric and lovely. Sometimes, we want to jump off a bridge and, other times, we feel as strong and connecting as one. Thus, with the fragility of her voice she manage to show that an emotion can turn in an instance, but our spiritual growth comes from how we ride through those instances.

Tasha – Kind of Love (Official Video)

Sweetly coy, there is no denying Tasha is smart. She smirks and speaks with her crowd like one would a stranger who they met and actually enjoyed the conversation. She feels like a treasure chest that, after awhile, opens to reveals how much gold it carries. The notion is not far off when you hear songs like, “Some Kind Of Love.” For Tasha, life, including yourself and your relationships, are a thing you open and pluck through like a hand picking out pieces of gold from mud. Hence, she paces her melodies and vocals with meekness and patience so as to promote that virtue really is important to living more fully. For More Information On Tasha Click Here
