Concert Review: TWIN XL Are The Jam At Webster Hall.
Twin XL felt like a sweet, succinct “text book version” of a “hit factory.” All their songs felt made for radio at Webster Hall, and it felt like a testament to a “good” song. Historically, every music fan argues what makes a good song; a lyric, a melody, or its ability to tap into feelings. Does it need to be complex, long and political or is a short, pop club jam equally as powerful? TWIN XL proved the latter.
I always say that is you play your pop music like rock and roll, no matter what, you will end up with an anthem. Twin XL seemingly followed that rule as their set swooned by like the Half Time show during the Super Bowl. Someone told them they had 20 minutes to do a music spectacular with lighting and all, and they said, “Well, let’s make it count.” There was no breathe or even banter for them; they were on a mission to make their songs hits the audience like bags of adrenaline pumping into their veins through their ears.
From “Messy” to “ Sunglasses,” all their songs tapped into the simplicity of a delicious, electro infused pop song. There is always that “one person,” or rather frenemy” who totally crossed you out, and toyed with your heart like a yo-yo: up and down their string of lies. If this has not happened to you, then just you wait! (lol!) If you have not been betrayed or misled, EVER, then you are missing out on the essence of a good, mainstream hit.
Pop is all about either falling in or out of love with someone, and, either way, feeling taken aback by how many feeling you have about it. In this, Twin XL excelled. Perhaps, that is what the XL means: EXCELLED or extra large. Either way, they felt happily extra. Going big and filling out the stage as every music fan deserves an artist who makes a commercial song feel like a quality, headphone-blasting purpose. For More Information On Twin XL Click Here.
