Concert Review: Two Friends Are A Buddies’ Bash At Irving Plaza
Walking into Two Friends’ Irving Plaza show felt like an event, itself. For starters, NEW YORK IS COLD! Yet, that did not stop the crowd from dressing up like they were about to film with Jimmy Fallon in Puerto Rico. They were literally ready for body heat, of which Two Friends gave a show that proved the artist is just the beginning of a concert. They see themselves as launchpads for adrenaline, and they launched us.
Composed of Matt Halper and Eli Sones, Two Friends’ Concert was literally for hoards of friends. Buddies and bff’s entered in droves so ready for Two Friends’ music to turn their legs into pogo sticks and make them bounce up and down all night. You would not think it was Sunday night with how people moved as if The Lord never took it to rest. It was a sheer display of exuberant, boisterous fun that felt perfectly symbolized by Two Friends’ merch T-shirt of Tony The Tiger and the Cheetos’ Leopard chilling with each other. These icons symbolize kids high on sugar rushes and cheese dust, of which the crowd was ready to be.
With screens of light displaying every neon shape possible, what distinguished Two Friends from fellow DJs is that THEY ARE CRAZY! They approach the stage like they are the crowd. I know I have said that about a few artists, but, when it happens, I love it, especially this particular, rowdy audience. The crowd was wild, lit, and ready to bounce to Two Friends’ Big Bootie Mixes. The LA duo had found “fresh” was a double entendre; an energy you keep and a sound you build. Sonically, they did this by taking every radio hit and blending with an emolicious, EDM bite that gave their concert an EMO BK party vibe.
As friends, literally, huddled into group and jumped up till their heads touched chandeliers, Two Friends was right there with then. There are times when you wonder how DJ’s can call “the club” their life, especially when you see Two Friends. Whether leaping onto their DJ Booth or going to the crowd and shaking their dancing hands as if they were royal, Two Friends look at an audience with wide eyes, which is why their music twinkles them. Every bassline and beat drop zoomed, as if their music ran on a zipline. The result was an exhilarating show. For More Information On Two Friends Click Here.
