Concert Review: The Power of Zedd Is Sacred At Light & Life NYE Bash
As hands were held high like a TD Jakes- led ceremony, Zedd’s concert felt like a cross between EDM and a baptismal event. Of course, sweat was the choice for “holy water,” and words of positivity were taken as biblical. Thus, The Power of Zedd was not to be underestimated. On the contrary, it was enough to earn him praise from a Ia literal Navy Yard in Brooklyn.
As Zedd stood on a platform lit by Light & Life’s acclaimed visual effects, he appeared like a supernatural being lording over subjects begging for surreality. You will never see something as uniquely stunning as Light & Life’s visual effects; it truly ups the concert/ clubbing experience. Strobes dance over the crowd as if the audience is their dance-floor. It is mystifying to watch, and opens you up to the childlike wonder of the EDM world. Yes, there is a rave culture to the electronic dance scene that, at times, is only portrayed for its drug usage, but the Zedd concert was a reminder that people really just want to dance.
From “The Middle” to “Stay The Night,” Zedd was playing his hits, and you were in awe of how much he has defined radio’s current soundscape. Moreover, how positive and encouraging his music can be for people. From “Clarity” to “Lost In Japan,” every track felt like a call to let go of the negative, give into hope, and stay for the moment. What messages could be more attractive to an EDM crowd? This scene is all about positivity, eccentricity, and inclusivity, of which Zedd hits each marker. While his basslines were heavier in his live show, his messages were as light as ever when united by the lighting system of Light & Life.
Walking into the Brooklyn Navy Yard, felt like a psychedelic Heaven. Colorful, abstract images splashed behind Zedd while the audience was filled with characters. From people that went costumed to individuals that put so many glow sticks on they could be considered one fo the strobes, Light & Life’s parties are 100% memorable. They fully embody that the EDM scene is oddly harmless; it truly is a culture welcoming all those that feel uninvited by life. For More Information On Zedd Click Here.
