Diandra Reviews Premiere: Cobra Man Are In A Groovy “Heatwave”
I just came from a great interview with Alex Frew, to be posted soon, and in it we discussed how many artists are releasing old tracks that feel oddly relevant to now. Was it predictive? Was something in the ether that we all missed, but music was, unbeknownst to itself, picking up? I thought about that conversation before premiering THE GROOVY track “Heatwave” by the delightfully disco duo: Cobra Man.
Written in the Fall of 2019, the song is about being stuck in your hot ass apartment: in the middle of a heatwave and with no AC. The duo embody the feeling that summertime madness is an actual condition. For most of us, the pandemic made us feel incredibly fragile; pushing us to acknowledge things in our life that were not working, whether it was relationships or career moves. The worst part was that it got incredibly hot, and if you could not afford AC or had a malfunctioning one, it was hard not to feel like Heaven and Hell were showing you the finger. Cobra Man have aptly captured that vibe and turned disaster into a really cool, rhythmic track.
Cobra Man is comprised of LA’s Andy Harry and Sarah Rayne; their voices melt like ice cubes in the sun and it is glorious and memorable. This catchy track captures the faded dreaminess of burning up and relaxing in, all at once. With pure 70s and 80s vibes sprinkled, in sound and vision, the entire video is both outlandish and glamorous, which again is how someone feels during summertime madness. Leave it to a “pandemic heatwave,” to rev up your desire to go, even though you can’t. At least, Cobra Man’s “Heatwave” makes you move. For More Information On Cobra Man Click Here.
