Diandra Reviews The Power of Adele In Concert

It is hard to describe something so simple. Adele, in concert, is really simple. As images of her face swindles though big screens, showing like giant magnifiers into her every emotion, you wonder how is it that after all the fame and money, she still feels her own music. By now, she has sung “Someone Like You” and “Hometown Glory” over a million times, but yet each note, not only sounded exactly like the album, it also sounded exactly like the first time she wrote these heartbreaking tracks.
I do not know how Adele manages to make her songs sound like they are new sentiments to her. Yes, her voice was made for soul, and by now, the world has heard her raw vocals, so I have no reason to describe her music. I know you know. She is probably on some radio station as you read this. Yet, what I found fascinating about her concert at MSG last night is that she managed to make everyone of her songs sound like they were fresh even to her. Combine that sense of eternal youth, the vintage glamor of her glistening dress and vocals, with how ready people were to cheer, and Adele’s concert is literally recipe for how NOT to fail.
When people think Adele, they feel like she is “one of us”. Thus, as she sits down to banter like your best friend does at the bar or cracks a self-deprecating joke about one of her misadventures, you literally feel close to her. While artists like Beyonce, Taylor Swift, or Kanye West have shot to fame on an idea of exclusivity and being untouchable, what makes Adele one of, if not, the biggest superstars on earth is that you genuinely think that, if you walked up to her, she would talk to you and care for the conversation. Therefore, Adele’s concert is more than her music, it is a celebration that dreams can come true to good, everyday people. She is an overarching symbol that the brightest star only shines because all can share in her light.

Overall, the night was magical, because Adele has become like magic to listeners. She has been built to be such a dream, that, when you see how real she is in person and music, she does not disappoint. She is proof that being grounded and grateful equals grace.
