Concert Reviews: globalFest is NECESSARY IN NYC

If there is one thing America forgets, it is that it is apart of the world. For however diverse we are, as a nation, we can treat ourselves so small, so oblivious to a world filled with culture and music. For me, music has always been the ultimate love language of the soul. It is akin to numbers in how, no matter how complex it presents a problem, there is a universality to its sounds and solutions.

From Armenia to Colombia, the night was filled with international artists that, naturally, played with the excellence their long-standing careers would achieve. Dale Watson & His Lone Stars have been in the game for 40 years and this was my first night experiencing them. Maria Mazzotta is an iconic, Italian singer, and dazzled me with her style and the knowledge of her existence, all at once. I say this because there is something really beautiful about remembering how much ¨world¨ there is to this world.

New York, is filled with so many artists battling money issues, inspiration blockages, or even the fact that they really just want fame and have no idea what it is to be a visionary. When you think of celebrity, you almost forget how many artists have existed and exist, a across time and earth, just for the sake of creation, and moving people that we, too, will never know or meet. When I booked global fest, I did not know, exactly, what to expect. A yearly event, at the Lincoln Center, I knew I was going to experience culture and ease: the legendary concert hall always brings the world to this global city.

Overall, it was a lovely night and filled with good vibes, which WE NEED. It was a good crowd for great artists, and a night that showed the elegance of good nature fun.
