Album Review: Anna Sofia Is Broken Perfection
To be honest, I am kind of surprised HOW much teens know about heartbreak. Heck! Sometimes, I am surprised I know so much heartbreak. WHAT IS HAPPENING PEOPLE?! Although, I can’t say humanity has ever hit its glory day, I don’t quite know how better we are from the past, especially when it comes to feeling young and staying in that feeling for as long as we can. I mention this because when you hear Broken Perfection, you are not going to think Anna Sofia is a 16 year old, Toronto native.
One thing that allows Anna Sofia to embody being a teen in 2020 is that she encompasses the mental health struggle that a lot of are and will suffer, especially post-pandemic. From climate change to just the plain, old future, it is not easy to feel like your life will go to greener pastures, and Anna Sofia sings to how that truth leaves us living in our head. Whether you are happy, “Happy For You,” or could go “Either Way,” Sofia is simple and sincere in her verses on what it is to live a life of the highest highs and the lowest lows or rather to feel invincible in a time when the world’s fragility is so apparent.
Anna Sofia – Don’t Play Pretend (Lyric Video)
Broken Perfection is a perfect EP to further introduce Anna Sofia to the world and her visible path to emotional growth. Currently, the music industry is signing a LOT of teens, in part, because you can become your own producer before you even hit high-school. In a world of access, Anna Sofia’s voice comes off jubilantly raw; warm enough to feeling inviting and shimmery enough to get you through the feelings that burn like, isolation. It will be very intriguing to see how she grows as an artist, and how her fans feel like they grow with her. For More Information On Anna Sofia’s Broken Perfection Click Here.
