Album Review: Noah Kahan Is A Busyhead Like The Rest of Us
With his debut album set for June 14, Noah Kahan is lining up a tour and, in a way, a new life. As he gains more popularity, his signature charm of awkward laughs and witty jokes won over his Rose Bar crowd. After seeing and interviewing prior, I was happy to see how much he has grown into his own skin; getting over the shock that he is, actually, living the “dream.”
No dream is really a “dream;” reality sets in to alter its meaning and routes. After learning this, Noah Kahan sees that nothing is perfect in life but it can be perfect for you. In essence, find you happiest version of misery and you will live a great life (lol!). At least, that might be one message from his new debut, Busyhead. While playing a few tracks, Noah laughed at how he was “discovered” through an internet chat and sang to a random girl that appeared to be dancing for the gods rather than Noah. Yet, he showed Busyhead can have a double meaning.
It is not only about being busy in life but being busy in the mind, and how both interconnect to make you a “Cynic,” “Mess,” or give you “False Confidence.” From “Sink” to “Tidal,” Noah sings to the bombardment of emotions that build your ego: numbness, sadness, insecurity, or fear. The result is you become a person that would “Hurt Somebody” or beg someone to “Save Me” while never working to save yourself. Thus, he may be a funny guy, but he is a wise one, too, Moreover, his voice reaches high notes while using his guitar melodies like bounce-boards; a.k.a it is something to hear/witness.
