Album Review: E^ST Makes Her Debut In I’m Doing It
If Gus Dapperton and Benee had a “supalonely” child, it would be E^ST. Yet, make no mistake. E^ST may be singing about “being myself,” but this debut album, I’m Doing It, will get her a following. Out July 31, it is a fun, airy record that makes you feel life is just one lotto ticket away from getting really lucky.

I know it sounds strange. For having tracks, that mourn isolation and the feeling that everyone leaves you because of you, this album, sonically, might as well have been born from a Nintendo box that came to life. The Super Mario Bros race through songs such as, “Maybe, It’s Me” and “Talk Deep,” with a speedy kick to the pedal. You can, definitely, hear influences from Lady Gaga in her sound, but her style and verses takes the perspective of the nightclubbing friends listening to Gaga as they prowl London streets. She is young and trying not to self-sabotage her ability to have fun, which is SO relatable.

E^ST totally captures the SEVERAL nights we have when we DO NOT want the night to end but we feel like an entire Lifetime has occurred between midnight and 4AM. Her songs are catchy and meant to be sung aloud and along, especially because they come off like photographs. They are simple pictures of the many times you “broke up with someone” or “Found Somebody.” In life, everything and everyone can feel fleeting, but, not necessarily in a bad way. Life is just life. From “Flight Path” to “Walking Home In The Rain,” E^ST’s voice appears raw yet painless. She is simply recapping the ups and downs of trying to have a good time while avoiding the anxiety over whether you can have a good lifetime. Click Here For More Information On E^ST.
