Album Review: Hinds’ I Don’t Run Makes You Stay And Party

Erratic, glorious, dirty, and pure, Hinds’ I Don’t Run is a celebration of being a conundrum. How we can be confused and clear, good and bad, failed and successful, all at once, is what makes human beings and Hinds new album so good. These ladies have arisen as indie queens, but they do not take “buzz” as an excuse to stop making sweet honey.

I Don’t Run feels sonically all over the place, which is wonderful. It gives the feeling of being on a road; making pit-stops in clubs, friends’ apartments, and wherever your heart wants to stop.“Ma Nuit”, “New For You”, “The Club”, and “I Feel Cold But I Feel More” come off like party anthems with depth. For all the bag of issues you can carry in a day, the night can make you feel victorious, and these for ladies know that. Their carefree melodies and happy harmonies are “grunging” with shoe-laced guitars, poured and shotted drum-rolls, and lyrics that brighten like a bar “OPEN” sign.
#newforyou

It is hard to convey Hinds “different” take on fun because it is layered and light. From “Linda” to Soberland” or “To The Morning Light”, you just want to call up your best buddies and give in to the laughs and love of their presence. I, myself, talk about spaces like, nightclubs, as locations of escapism, but Hinds sing to the people that become your escapism. This could be why their album makes Carlotta Cosials, Ana García Perrote, Ade Martín, and Amber Grimbergen feel like“your girls”. Cosials and Perrote’s vocals come off like flows or rivered spoken words convincing you to use their lo-fi rock rhythms to turn your night into a diamond. Thus, on April 6, do yourself a favor and get Hinds I Don’t Run by Clicking Here. It really is a delightful, easy listen.
