SiR’s Chasing Summer Is The Perfect Send-off
I CAN’T BELIEVE SUMMER HAS ENDED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Where did it go! I didn’t even feel it start! I was still trying my Megan Thee Stallion “Hot Girl Summer” inspired cat-suit. Welp, there goes that! Yet, at least, I got one of the best debuts of the year, SiR’s Chasing Summer. It may sound strange, but just on singles and image, I knew SiR was going to deliver, of which his album conglomerates all the “aesthetics” of new music.
Now more than ever, music feels like an image. Icons are people that convert sound into a mood and that mood into a culture and community, which SiR does. SiR has the potential of garnering a fandom that, like most fandoms, treats him like a leader, of which features by Lil Wayne, Kendrick Lamar, and Jill Scott coronate him as such. Moreover, vocals by Zacari and Sabrina Claudio paint him as a man, like them, on the rise in defining a new music scene; one that bends genres to build a clear, self-analytical story. SiR’s album feels like a love story: to live and die for romance in “LA”.

You can see the palm trees in “Wires In The Sky” and feel the heat in “Fire.” You can pass the night-life and city lights in “The Recipe” or stay in traffic looking at the “New Sky” to think about “That’s Why I Love You.” He feels present with a voice that sounds like classic, R&B crooners while feeling like a modern narrator. Think of it! What is it to feel the passion of “old-time love” when you are 25 in 2019 Los Angeles. Hence, there are both retro and futuristic frequencies of which his voice utters lyrics like a painter paints. H

SiR’s ability to draw out color into the black and white of loving is what makes tracks such as, “Lucy’s Love,” “LA Lisa,” and “Still Blue” feel like total bops.
