Album Review: The Violet Sands Make A “Hotel” Worth Staying In Forever

Sexy is a term I often stay away from when describing an artist or album because, unfortunately, it can be wrongly interpreted. Feeling empowered in your body is sexy, and, of course, most people will notice if your are because most of us do not. Its like seeing someone walk through a supermarket with A runway model posture; why would you carry yourself so confidently in your daily? Yet, The Violet Sands are undeniably sexy in sound, and their new album Hotel is a place to stay in confidence.

Violet Sands have made an album that is 100% electric and easy to listen. Like the term “sexy”, even easy-listening is a phrase that can be made generic or bland, but who does not want sexy to be easy? Tracks like “Drive”, “Hello, I’m Free”, and “Zoning” use a scintillating base to make you feel like you are Knight Rider blazing through a forest of neon trees looking for trouble.Their pacing is fascinating because even slower tracks such as “Start Low, Get High” or “Shelter” make you still feel like you are moving so fast. It is a strange effect to have faint speed inspire quickness, but this comes from the seductive, alluring vocals of Deidre Muro. She utters verses as if they are dripping from her mouth like the juice of a ripe fruit. She bites in and relishes the sweetness of songs such as, “Hands” and “Do You Remember”, which are nostalgic tracks. This trio is not only about drudging up 80’s sentiments through synths, keys, and horns that resonate with big hair and ballooned proms. They are also about the mental moments when we wish we could hold out our hand, and grab the wildness of older days and past loves. Looking back always makes instances seems of beautiful and picturesque, and, like my Knight Rider reference, it is easy to zoom past great memories and see them for their bright colors and cool mischief.

Usually, when we look back we remember the times we were love, loved, or rebels. The Violet Sands certainly give a rebellious outlook on love and passion by sounding so free. The sing from the thickness of their skin to the lightness of their hearts, which makes Hotel a electro- jolt of gentlest fashion. For More Information On The Violet Sands And To Buy Hotel Click Here.
