Yes, WENS is inventing a new state of being that I feel is relevant to the world’s current state: Lemoncholy. In her debut EP, Lemoncholy, her songs represent it as a state of delirium where you are so sad, you feel almost euphoric. You enter a state wonder at seeing a world of chaos; choosing to laugh at the fact that you cry because you are so over the fact that you do both. Yeah, that got deep, but like renforshort, who also debuted this week, WENS is a young woman in a world that feels old and tired.

You know what is so crazy about this pandemic? Everyone can look back to history and see similarities. Frankly, don’t want to have anything in common with anyone who lived during the Bubonic Plague. NOPE! Yet, for a generation of teens and twenty-somethings that grew up through election hacks and climate changes, we not only were raised by a repeating past but a sense that there is no future. With this in mind, WENS’ lyrics sing to a generation that feel like they have to live every moment like it is their last because…. it might be; so we go wild.
