Artist Close-Up: Dean Lewis Will Soundtrack Your Break-Ups
If music is the food of the soul, I think breakups feed music. Most songs are about love, but are particularly focused on the most confounding aspect of it: breakups. How you can go from thinking that you could not live without a person to virtually wiping them off of your Instagram’s existence is perplexing. Yet, Dean Lewis’ “Be Alright” embraces the pain of this confusion.
You go out, and your friends tell you that “You will be okay!” You slightly “facebook stalk” your new “ex” to see if they are “worse” than you, or you find yourself creating new routines that feel half-empty when compared to the ones you did together. Dean Lewis lyrically captures all these sentiments, and does it so perfectly you feel taken aback. In verse, this song is so raw and simple that you wonder how it can embody all that feels wrong about a love gone wrong. Yet, you cannot beat Dean Lewis’ voice.
Dean Lewis – Be Alright (Official Video)
Lewis’ vocal feel sprouted like plants blooming after months of torrential rain. He takes the spiritual dampness of his heartbreak, and, somehow, emotionally blossoms that breakups feel like death. Still, somehow, you will move on, which is why they are sad in the first place. Something in your mind tells you that you will “Be Alright,” but your heart is not ready to be it. With a guitar led melody that hugs the frustration and romance of Dean Lewis’ emotive vocality, I fully expect Lewis to be soundtracking a LOT of tv and movie breakups.. and, defintiely, some real ones… For More Information On Dean Lewis Click Here.
