Artist Close-Up: kezia meets Claire and you should, too!
Listening to Kezia’s Claire, I kept on thinking of rollerblading. Yes, I said rollerblading. Something about that rink with your gossiping friends, hidden crushes, and the freedom of rolling in circles for two hours screams youth and innocence, which can be kezia’s sonic vibes. The irony is that she sings to depression and navigating life when your mind feels shut down. In perspective, a roller rink feels like an appropriate reference.
While we roll around to jubilee, often, life feels like a circle from hell. Okay, that got dark. Yet, from “Wreck” to “Sapphire” feel like air. There is something so uncomplicated about kezia’s sound for being about navigating life through its complications like, giving love to others while hating yourself or the highs and lows of being biracial in America. In a way, from “Portland” to “Megan Fox,” kezia lyrically approaches the duality of being. For some reasons, us humans, we always ride in a spectrum, of which our minds spirals when we feel to stuck in it. Luckily, kezia’s voice is a breeze.
Okay, air, breeze…. OXYGEN! I am clearly running an analogy with kezia and their debut. Yet, there is a very light, brisk quality to kezia’s sound that makes it feel like the ambient version of easy-listening. With everyone seemingly riding a synth-wave to inner softness, kezia feels like a welcome addition. Click Here For More Information
