Artist Close- Up: MIAMIGO Is 80’s Dark Pop Goodness
Never did I believe pop could go dark. When you think of pop, you think of a giant teddy bear chewing on skittles and painting rainbows….. idk. The point is pop is a colorful genre that is about being bright. Thus, I was pleasantly surprised to hear MIAMIGO add a little shade to this music.
Haunting pop…. sounds different, right? Well, it is! Adding the bitter to pop’s sweetness makes MIAMIGO an a unique, indie alternative to this genre. From the minute you hear their first single, Forever, you know you are listening to a new sound. They are so fresh unto the scene that it is no wonder that in only a year they have become artists to watch. Their combination of French electro, film noir soundtracks, psychedelic synthesizers, and brooding, trap basslines. Just the sound of that combination makes me feel like I am hearing a delicious musical menu, and MIAMIGO is the top dish.
Call me crazy or twisted, but I like when people add an edge to a formula. Pop has a formula and MIAMIGO is that edge. When asked to describe their new track, the star-bound band claimed, “We feel it’s a confident declaration to a past relationship, ‘Oh weren’t we wonderful’ and the overuse of the word ‘Forever’ making something that felt special becoming superficial, as it does in this day and age.” Yes!!!!!!! Even in describing their music and motives, it is clear that this MIAMIGO wants to brings hints or reality to the pop world. Love is not always glamorous, and this band has the confidence and talent to tell you the difference between real beauty and falseness. Once, you hear their music, you will know the difference.nCheck Out Their Music Here.
