Artist Close-Up: November Ultra Springs In “Bedroom Walls”
For November Ultra, life is a dream. For most of us, life is what happens when you are trying to get to a dream. Journeying from France and honoring her Spanish grandfather in song, November Ultra was determined to create a space that flowed like a lullaby just before bed. She was calm, funny, ethereal, and turned her concert into just the right amount of chill people need before they head off home.
I like two types of concerts: the ones that get me so hype, I no longer believe in sleep as a valid, human experience and the ones that makes me so serene, sleep feels like the only thing that came make my day feel like a full one. November Ultra is that latter, which may sound like an insult but iT IS FAR FROM IT. I like feeling like the show I just saw was the perfect bow to a gifted day; no more needed beyond what was received. November Ultra feels fulfilling between her silly jokes, charming sweetness, and overall, ethereal voice, it is hard not to walk away from her songs like they marshmallows in your hot chocolate.
Playing off her upcoming. debut, Bedroom Walls, out April 8, the entire record is so sonically endearing. It was made to be placed on loop because it is exhilaratingly peaceful like a good dream you want to recall. Vocally, November Ultra stirs her voice in light waves, never trying to overpower her soundscape at she its like water does sand.
