Artist Close- Up: Sebastian Blake Will Rock Your World Like He Rocked SIA’s
My readers will know I love a good, fun time. Music can make you feel less alone, but it can also make you feel like you won the world. The difference is one side of music tells you to be less sad, while the other smacks you to get happy. Sebastian Blake is that smack of joy.
There is absolutely nothing down about Blake. His LP will be released later this year, but from the four tracks I have heard, his full album should be released immediately. Blake brings back funkadelic resonance to the 70’s and 80’s. when fabulosity and rhythm were a must. Glamour was your ticket to the dance-floor, and if your voice had no soul then it had no stage.
What is most exciting about Blake is the smooth inner passion he exudes on stage. It is clear Blake lives for music, and seeing that natural enthusiasm makes his presence dynamic. You want him on the stage! His mixture of Rock N Roll bravado with a soul/ R&B voice echoes a “Prince-ly” vibe and makes him stand out as an artist unlike anyone currently on the radio.
Hailing from the South London, this feather- wearing rocker/ songwriter began his career singing at Brighton beaches and arose to have a strong following in the British music scene. He even sung at the 2012 Olympics and Tate Modern….. Can anyone else say they have done that? Moreover, SIA is a Huge fan of the young man noting the “cool” texture of his voice. When combined with his high energy, spirited flare, Blake is a must see performer.
Born and raised in Camberwell, known for its butterflies, for his debut EP Blake has gone home to pour his whole heart into each track, and assure, like always, that his audience receives the best of him. All I know it that his feel good grooves last way beyond his song’s end. Just check him out!
Sexy To Your Feet
Sexy To Your Feet proves that songs can have aftershocks. One listen and you are still dancing for hours. The track especially displays Blake noted “coolness” His voice reminds of a younger Michael Jackson: clear, joyful, with emotive annunciations. The guitar’s repetitive hook leaves any listener feeling like they have made a good catch.
TRBL
TRBL’s beats go straight to your heart to change its rhythmic flow. Its an in your face, good time track that will make anyone wish they were TRBL. Lyrically, Blake proves a simple fluidity creates memorability. By the second time heard, you will find that you oddly know every word to this melodically, investigative piece. I say investigative because the instrumentals sound like a smooth detective looking for the woman that has been so much trouble or rather TRBL.
Additional Tracks To Look Out For:
Luckily, I have heard the whole EP, and here are some added gems for release.
Someone To Love: is one of Blake’s slower, romantic songs. It still has the quickened pace that is typical of this upbeat singer. Once again, he always exhibits the greatness of good guitar medley. As the strings are strummed, you wish you had someone to love, as well.
Your Love To Me: is my FAVORITE track. Again, a softer side to Blake, the tracks backing vocals harmonize with him so perfectly to describe the beauty of love received. It’s delivery and words are so sweet they feel like a generous love letter. This track is the most gentle one Blake is releasing as the others continue with his up-beat high energy. This one shows that even slowly, Blake can send a heartfelt message of goodness.
