Artist Close Up: TUSKS – A Songstress With A Cinematic Vibe

The coolest artists are the ones that spark you imagination. As you hear them sing, visions of their lyrics swirl through your mind. Suddenly, their song is a filmed story in your head. Tusk is that kind of artist.
False
Her newest track, False, is the first released single from her LP of the same name. The slow paced, yet quickening drums set up a contemplative piece. From previews of her music, one can tell Tusks is a pensive musician, one whom believes songs should be an intoxicating experience like, dragging your mind on a trip. If you hear the song and ask Tusk herself she will ay that is exactly what she is going for.
Discussing the video, Emily states ‘I wanted to take elements of the track that touched on watching someone battle with mental illness and portray that struggle through the lead Danu in an abstract, intoxicated way” with director Jamie adding, “we agreed we wanted something subtle, emotive and visceral. An abstract narrative that show the emotions and meaning of the song without becoming too literal. I wanted to create this feeling of a split personality battling with herself to find some kind of peace.”
Personally, I love any artist that tackles the human struggle to be happy because Lord knows it is a constant one. Thus, her perspective, in video and music, is poignant and successful. Cinematically the video plays like a day in the life. As the young woman goes from the highs of a club to the lows of loneliness, you feel as if you are her. Whom has not had the craziest, funnest time only to find themselves emotionally crashing a while after. Therefore, Tusks is not only a thoughtful artists, but an empathetic one, as well.
Tusks EP will be released in on June 10, and I am too excited lol. Check out her website
