Ugh! I LURVE The Wants. They make me feel like if I saw the world was burning, I’d be that badass who grabs a cigar. Yet, in some ways, that is what most of us are doing, except instead of a cigar, we are grabbing our cell phones and lighting up a message board (lol!). Yet, for 2020, The Wants are giving us what we NEED, and providing a rock sound that feels like The B-52’s entered a haunted house.

Okay, that comparison is SUPER specific. Yet, The Wants have the fun, eclectic arrangements of the B-52’s dimmed and grimmer with a dark creepiness that would make Wednesday Addams say, “Cool sound!” There is an occult-ish downbeat to their rhythms that me me want to go all Rock Lobster and do a psych journal bridging social anxiety and personal neediness. Madison Velding VanDam has the perfect voice to emanate society’s craving for better but its penchant for worse.
