Artists of 2020: Anna Of The North WILL CONQUER

I begin my fan-girling over Anna of The North by declaring that her album, Dream Girl, was one of the best of last year. I always get trepidatious about making best lists because my tastes are so expansive that my Spotify playlists jump from Vicente Fernandez to Hans Zimmer or Jhene Aiko to Russian Hip Hop. Yet, Anna of The North created Cali sound that made you feel like the Daenerys Targaryen of your common room in Venice Beach.
Anna Of The North – Dream Girl

Life in your twenties has a weird way of making you feel both 15 years old and 8,000 years young, all at once. There are days when I swear I ask myself when retirement begins and other days when I don’t even feel like life has begun. Yet, there are many elements to this emotional dichotomy and Anna of The North approaches them with imaginativeness and a sensuality that comes from pure confidence. Whether it is relationships or personal goals that are aging, there is a lightness to her voice that lifts your inner heavy and makes you feel like having a dream is like living an epic: you have to go through all of the 7 kingdoms to get your power.
