Artists of 2020: Lola Young Has Got Me Hooked

I really dig Lola Young. Of course, there are those that are going to compare her to Lily Allen. They are two Brit badasses that have this melodic way of speaking over a beat, while presenting themselves as women that can’t be beat. Their ability to look like both the girl you would hang out with and the girl that could beat you up in the schoolyard is fascinating and hypnotic. I wish I could simultaneously emanate “do not cross me” vibes with a side of “shall we unlimited brunch later”. Alas, life is not so kind to everyone, but Lola Young’s tracks are, at least, kind to our ears.  She has natural vulnerability to her tone that commands listens and lovers to respect her verses demands.
