Concert Review: Abraham Alexander Is A Merchant of Cool
Abraham Alexander is going to be a star. I fully except a Radio City Music Hall show in his future because he tapped into a music market that will never die: love songs. Genres have come and gone, I am still mad about Disco, but, no matter what, there themes remain the same: how people fall in and out with each other. Sometimes, I wonder if music is the “food for the soul” because it has realized our souls are literally made by how they connect to other ones. At Mercury Lounge, that is, exactly, what Abraham Alexander did.
Abraham Alexander’s set was brief, but it felt quicker because Alexander had the room wrapped. There is a natural elegance to his presence that could make him standing in a room, in silence, feel like an energy burst. Thus, imagine what happens when he sings. He is potent as a man but pure as a musician, in part, because he shows the beauty of loving someone, even if it ends with your tears. Playing off his self-titled EP, Alexander’s voice swished and flowed like sheets under sun and wind; he felt warm, light, and picked up by nature. Yet, again, he was so cool about it, the viewers knew they had seen a star.
Abraham Alexander – Stay (Audio)
The key to becoming a superstar is to look or, at least, define coolness. You need to become a merchant of it. Look at Drake or Taylor Swift! Most of their songs are about how they have been rejected by love, but they are two of the most powerful, influential artists EVER! THAT IS COOL! Hence, Alexander is super powerful even though he is singing to how love has him wrapped around its finger. The idea made songs such as, “Stay” and “Lover’s Game” a gorgeous portrait on the most ancient, philosophical question in the world: What is love? How does it work in each person’s life? Happily, Alexander Abraham is adding his voice to resolving this question. For More Information On Abraham Alexander Click Here.
