Concert Review: Anne-Marie Creates BFF Music At Bowery Ballroom
Anne Marie is the Noah Centineo of concerts. I was so charmed by her charisma and sweetness; she literally became a walking smile and giggle. The kindness and friendliness of her soul could explain why the crowd had gifts for her. From a fisherman hat to Elton John shades, it was as if the crowd was giving b-day/ thank you gifts to their best friend, and, in some ways, that is the type of music she creates: BFF music.
Every young woman or man has done a makeshift karaoke session with their best friend. It does not matter where, as long as the cellphone is connected, and you both have voices. It took me seeing Anne-Marie in concert to realize this is her “power”; she creates positive affirming music to assure women go “Ciao, Adios” to wrongful loves and see their imperfections as their unique distinctions, “Perfect.” Frankly, it was hard to believe that Anne-marie has gone through a “Heavy”/ “Alarm” of a relationship or that she could EVER be a “Bad Girlfriend,” but that is the point of her presence; she is the genuinely good girl who has gone through bad relationships.
Rudimental & Major Lazer – Let Me Live (feat. Anne-Marie & Mr Eazi) [Official Video]
From “Trigger” to “Then” or from “Do It Right” to “Friends,” Anne-Marie sings to discovering that soured relationships lead to sweeter, personal lessons. From the ash of a broken coupling, can rise a phoenix of new virtues that perhaps you never knew you needed. Seeing Anne-Marie, a complete badass of a woman, say she struggles with confidence was shocking because that is all she had on stage. How she maneuvers her body and vocal range left the audience impressed because they did not know how abundantly talent she is. Anne-Marie has had many radio hits such as, “Rockabye,” “Let Me Live,” and her newest song with David Guetta “Don’t Leave Me Alone.” Yet, if her records prove that she can make a pop jam, her concert shows the thought, passion, and powerful belts that come with making a hit.

As she explained the reasons behind certain songs and how, in each one, she places her heart, her pain, and the growth she gains from such a combination, I began to have a new appreciation for Pop itself. It’s ability to make us dance, sing, and dream through our heartbreaks is why it has become a staple genre of the mainstream. Sometimes, we find “crying again” so insufficient and dissatisfying to what our soul needs to heal. Anne-Marie shows us that moving our hips, singing out loud, and letting go for a minute is a perfect, permissible solution. For More Information on Anne- Marie Click Here.
