Concert Review: Astrid S Confronts Depression At LPR

“I was always sleeping because I didn’t want to wake up to how unhappy I was.” UGH! Anyone who has ever struggled with depression totally understands Astrid S’ declaration. What people might see as a growing laziness is, actually, a growing disillusionment. Does life really always get better? Also, does “the better” come quickly or do I have to wait a bit? We treat joy and clarity like they are driving a bus that is arriving super late to our spot. There we are, in the wintery cold, cursing our poverty for, somehow, finding a cheap Uber to happy. At LPR, Astrid S decided to stroll to better days.

Astrid S – The First One (Official Music Video)

Happiness is a choice filled with a lot of journeys. For Astrid S, hers has been filled with laughs and sadnesses. Her story struck a woman next to me that, literally, had cookies and milk on a plate before her but could not stop crying from Astrid S words. She is so sweet and wise; a living embodiment that wisdom is not in grandeur, despite being grand. Yes, she was rocking sequin pants that could have totally been sewn for The Little Mermaid, but Astrid S looks glamorous to sing about not being even close to glam. “Hurt So Good,” “Such A Boy,” “Jump,” and “Does She Know?” may be streamed under Pop but they were written in heartbreak.

Astrid S – Doing To Me (Official Lyric Video)

Astrid S is one of the warmest, smiliest artists you will ever see, which is why her fans, literally, yelled obvious things like, “WE ARE HERE FOR YOU!” I would hope so! Yet, they had an eagerness for her to see that she was unique to them: her kindness mattered. As she danced and laughed on stage, her voice only felt brighter; proving that emoting a song is the same as emoting an energy. As a performer, you want people to feel like they are your equals so that, in turn, they make you their leader. We follow those who show us who we want to be, and Astrid S showed everyone we want to be happy. For More Information On Astrid S Click Here.
