Concert Review: Dodie Sells Out Terminal 5
To Dodie fans, she is an icon because she is their friend. They see a young woman bold enough to explore her humanity and sexuality, in a time and age, when we still struggle for courage. Her fans feel she is real, kind, and such a combination is rare. There is no malice to Dodie: just a young woman filled with sincerity and silliness. At Terminal 5, she made every viewer feel like this was a “one on one” show, despite thousands being there.

I saw Dodie at an intimate show with, maybe, 100 to 150 in attendance at Rough Trade. It, too, was packed with people eager to catch her quirkiness and constant smile. If someone told me Dodie was the child of Zooey Deschanel and a care bear, I would say, “I see it.” She emanates love and warmth as essence, which is why it was amazing to see her, literally, spread such forces throughout a warehouse. This is one human being. Though, this time, she was back by a band that include a cello,(my readers know I love violin/cello), the show 100% revolved around her as if she was supernova drawing every star in the galaxy to her. Such an image is perfect to describe how Dodie fans feels in her presence.
As she played and swayed as if music, itself, had made her its ragdoll, the childlike glee of Dodie made her fans feel like they were stars. It was a place of inclusivity, of which Dodie will NEVER deny nor not display her LGBTQ pride and passion. Throughout Dodie’s music love, for yourself, for others, and for your journey in finding both, is on full display. Such a sweet message should fill out concert venues/ warehouses across the land. As she laughed and song for us, with her voice that could lull babies and puppies to a whimsical slumber, Dodie proved that beauty and calm are ticket boosters.
To some perspectives, a show of quiet, chill inclusivity sounds like a nightmare. Love reigning supreme like the Corinthians passage is rare, but tracks like, “Sick of Losing Soulmates,””Human,” and “Guiltless” played up that love is kind, patient, and not boastful. It is a meek, but vivid energy that transforms you every time you gain a new person to love. Dodie’s concert and fanbase is like a convention for those looking to love more, and by the looks of some people next to me, they found it. For Information on Dodie Click Here.
