Concert Review: Donna Missal Shows Music Is Her Destiny At Bowery

Donna Missal is the Janis Joplin of Pop. She brings a rock n’ roll adrenaline to this genre that, frankly, has never been seen before. To take the sweet nature of this genre and turns it into a sword requires a level of heart and adrenaline that HAS TO BE FROM GOD! At Bowery Ballroom, Donna Missal rose Hell with her Heavenly voice.

There are certain artists that you will see in life and think, “This was your destiny.” While most of us will have to pick our path, Donna Missal’s path chose her: singer. She was DESTINED to entertain her sold out crowd and, literally, spread her energy over them as if her soul was, literally, The Force from Star Wars. People got chills as she sang tracks such as, “Transformer,” “Keep Lying” and “Test My Patience” like the ones that crossed her were right in front of her. In this world, enemies, heartbreakers, and haters seem to hire themselves, for free, when it comes to working against your life. Donna Missal gives the perfect soundtrack/ show to confront them.

There are many different ways to be confident, and Missal is the “kickass” version. She walks around the stage and speaks to her audience as if she has boxed with life, won, and now gives humorous pointers to people on how to hit it back. Her ability to appear both strong and open was enrapturing and interplayed into the power of her clear vocals. She rasps, rakes, wretches, and wrenches her voice as if her vocal chords were sheets she cuts and irons upon whim. From “Thrills” to “Girl,” the power and potency of her voice and the choices she makes with it took people aback. If she has to tear into a note to reach into the flesh of it meaning and emotions, she can and that is why she is a must see.

Not every artist can give themselves to a performance quite like Donna Missal. She could even turn Avril Lavigne’s “Complicated” into a raucous plight for inner peace within a relationship. For her music is not a song; it is an offering. The minute you give your heart to a melody, it becomes universal, and Donna Missal is universally good. For More Information On Donna Missal Click Here.
