Concert Review: Easy Life Make Their NYC Debut

Easy Life made their NYC debut at Mercury Lounge, and it was a HIT. This was an 11PM show on a Monday, but it was packed with people eager to admire and homage a band that lives up to its name. While we think the “easy life” is fast, private jet with a champagne bottles and diamonds splashing across, Easy Life sings to the breezy, best moments us, “regular folk,” enjoy.

For most of us, our “rest” is snuggling under a big, warm blanket and binge-watching a show or group-chatting our inner jokes to friends. Our daily may not “dazzle,” but it does delight us, and Easy Life captures that. They know how to make the “mundane” moving, and express how the little things are what create a big, romantic love story. Thus, tracks like, “Frank,” “Pockets,” “Houseplants,” and “Sunday” felt like scrapbooks on what everyday couples do fo make real love feel cinematic. Thus, you look at The Boy from Leceister, and watch them like they are modern, Millennial version of The Beatles; “synthing” their way into pop jams that feel like delicious pop-tarts made for your ears.

Easy Life – Pockets

Led by singer, Murray, Easy Life can make songs about “High Hopes” or “Nightmares” feel sexy. From horns to keys, very instrument is used to build a mood; as if you could construct a vibe with the same dedication, effort, and creativity as a lounge. They completely capture that music is an ambiance, and Murray’s light vocals feel like flavors you add to your day. He scopes his range as if it is latched to his charm; smiling his notes as he smiles as a person. You cannot deny, throughout their show, that these guys like each other. They are a band of brothers, which helps them emanate the ease of their music’s dynamic. Going to their show is like going to see friends, and not one person had a bad mood.

Blissfully infectious is one way I would describe Easy Life’s music. They have been describe as Chance The Rapper meets Arctic Monkeys, and it is not a far off comparison. They feels like a mash of so many artists and genres, but they make they meet, again, in easy. Their music truly hits you with a giddiness and calm that will, certainly, make you want to see and dance with them again. For More Information On Easy Life Click Here.
