Concert Review: Elrow Rowllywood Is An EDM Woodstock

There are tall tale signs in knowing you have entered an EDM concert. A roaming paramedic. People dressed in the literal anti-thesis of business formal. A man or woman that came alone and hugs/ fans everyone he or she meets. Elrow is one of the first EDM concert series that relied on the colorfulness of its concert-goers as much as the colorfulness of its sets, which made it dynamically addictive. You want to go back to their shows because, in truth, they are communities.

Elrow’s Rowllywood was a Bollywood theme, of which Brooklyn Mirage felt transformed into the set of Aladdin. It was Disney-like in its vibrancy, and appealed to the inner child of every adult. Trust met when I tell you that sets, especially in the EDM world, matter. Everywhere my eyes looked, there was gold, draperies, statues, and costumed personalities roaming to make BK Mirage feel like a different world, which was fantastic. Moreover, it felt needed. In its ambiance feeling so separate from earth, I, oddly, felt safe. No one cared what you wore; the louder, or the more comfortable, the better. It was as if a pair of golden wings and Nikes were written under the Eventbrite requirements.

Sonically, Rowllywood was a non-stop dive into every EDM fusion possible. Yet, what I loved is that the music was a powerful back-drop to the crowd’s fore-front. For Elrow, you, the audience, are the stars, and it was fascinating. People roamed around, celebrating their friends and personal outlandishness, and dancing as if moving your body for 10 hours is the same as brushing your teeth. Elrow gives you a “bang for your buck” deal by starting the concert early, 6PM, and ending it late. With artists like Miss Jennifers, Roger Sanchez, and Technasia playing, you wanted to stay forever. Yet, by the end, every artist felt like a synchronizing symphony; proving that EDM is hypnotic.

From Mikey Lion to Erick Morillo, the music pressed upon people’s mind like a hand with calming balm. People either swayed or entered full-on choreo but did it all with a relaxed ease. Everyone was in awe of everyone; greeting each other and taking pictures whilst it being their first time meeting. It was epically cool, and, in a way, made Elrow the Woodstock of EDM. Thus, if you are a lover of EDM, I highly suggest you check out their Winter Fiesta on December 14. Click Here For Tickets.
