Concert Review: Evan Giia Is A Pop Star At Baby’s All Right

Entering Baby’s All Right, I was shocked by how the crowd was so rowdily amped and into Evan Giia. Either the audience was a cult dedicated to their priestess  or she a was apart of a sorority that invited the entire Greek System and her family to the show. It felt electrically surreal, and even Ms.Giia acknowledged the overwhelming love. Yet, it made me feel like I was seeing a pop star just before the world did.

Ed Sheeran and Katy Perry all did their Mercury Lounge rounds! Coldplay’s festival set times used to be 11:00 am, and now they headline. We all have to make the climb because, when you enter the music industry, it is because you know your talented and want the world to be know it. At Baby’s, it seemed like the world wanted to know Evan Giia. She is rising at the perfect time. Between Ella Mai and Stela Cole, there are so many female artists bringing plush, fierce undertones to R&B, Pop, and Rock. It is as if people want to both electrify and slow things down, all at once, and music, being humanity’s reflector, is picking that up. Evan Giia’s sound certainly gravitates to that dynamic.

From “I DON’T LIKE UR FRIENDS” to “Absolute Zero,” she bopped to her songs with such a glee; as if she was realizing that she was living her best life while, simultaneously, singing to times when she wasn’t. Like any pop queen, Evan Giia swims in the ups and downs of relationships, and, once again, like many artists of “now”, she focuses on the disappointments. When you are young, besides your family, most relationship feels like water running down your fingers; though they may touch you, they cannot be held. Evan Giia seems to understand this as her rhythms play like an electro-pop desert, and her verses speak to learning  that love quenches you, but there will be many “drinks” ahead. You can laugh at the reference, but you cannot deny that Giia serves such truths with a delightful presence.

I like feeling like someone is giving me their world by building my atmosphere. Giia’s vocals are sleek and lustrous as she smiles and looks around like to be on stage is to be on earth for the first time. There is something very charismatic about her humbling appreciation because, at least, she has the talent to back it. For More Information On Evan Giia Click Here.
