Concert Review: G-Eazy Has No Limit of Energy At Jones Beach Theater
With platinum hair, tatted up, and a grill, G-Eazy is embracing his Greaser, Hip-Hopper image. At his Jones Beach Theater performance, he toyed with the image of being the coolest guy your family does not want you to date, your friends worry over his presence, and you simply fantasize about being his party-partner/ listening ear. The night felt like a true homage to his record/ F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel: The Beautiful & The Damned.
Opening with “Pray For Me,” G-Eazy, immediately, set the scene of a lost soul with a good heart. From “But A Dream” to “Power,” his lyrics sing to the good guys that cannot clear their demons because they can be fun, at best, and company, at least. Every track has him being pulled from a “No Limit” mentality to someone who simply wants have another say, “You Got Me.” The struggle between the bareness of his humanity and the prospect of his divinity pulses through his verses and set design: with prayer hands splashing behind him. Yet, all this I could not be noticed if G-Eazy was not such a textured performer.

There has definitely been an aura shift in G-Eazy demeanor. He looked and felt different; pushing songs such as “Sober,” ”Me, Myself, And I,” and “Legend” as contemplating differences between darkness and nightlife. He encourages you to go crazy, but also empathizes with you in your desire for clarity. Still, as his tracks boomed over the crowd to show, G-Eazy impressed everyone with just how much his music has soundtracked the past few years of our lives. Hits were rolling over, and each one he treated with reverence and presence. This was his moment, and he KNEW IT. That is why he was unabashed in flirting with the crowd, presenting songs with pints of theatricality, and calling out “Ash” (Halsey) before rapping his hit “Him & I,” to which young ladies squealed at his saying of the loving nickname.
G-Eazy – No Limit REMIX ft. A$AP Rocky, Cardi B, French Montana, Juicy J, Belly
Known as “The Crazy Gemini,” I always liked G-Eazy’s music, but his performance makes you like him. It is as if he understands that a concert, in some ways, is like a “meet and greet” between fans and artists. It is where us “regular folk” go to see the “star,” and observe whether the shine we see on television is as bright in reality. For all the sets and outfit changes, it was G-Eazy himself, that won the awe of his audience. You, simply, like the guy. He is charming, amiable, and will NEVER fail to keep energy at a cool 10,000 so as to assure the audience never has a down-beat. Honestly, thunderstorms look like nap-times compared to how G-Eazy strikes the stage. For More Information On G-Eazy Click Here.
